Incubation Centre
Empowerment contains within it, the word power. So it follows that empowerment is about power and about changing the balance of power. As far as women’s empowerment is concerned, it is about gaining autonomy and control over one’s life, which includes many dimensions such as, economic, social and political. The immediate need is to tap the skill and talent of women in an appropriate manner, we need to frame new administrative and behavioral stand for their welfare and for the future growth of the nation.
Handicrafts Museum
The first museum of its kind to be set up in Madhya Pradesh, for viewing and conservation of rare handicrafts and handlooms of Madhya Pradesh, This is a national level Museum, supported by the Central Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi. This is very prestigious project for SDPS and Madhya Pradesh as a whole. The objective of the handicrafts museum is to make a platform through which India’s heritage, traditional arts and craft can be popularized among people and also to collect and preserve objects having excellent beauty of exquisites in craftsmanship and conceptual innovations in design or its functional aspects.
Design Development and Interior Decoration of “Mrignaynee”
We have developed design for Interiors of “Mrignayanee” the showroom of M.P. Hastashilp Evam Hathkargha Vikas Nigam Ltd., Bhopal, to house their ready to wear garments, home furnishing items. This facilitated our students to update in interior design, quality, standards and market requirements.
Leather Research Centre
In collaboration with Tata Int. Ltd. SDPS has started a leather research centre to develop new finishes, ornamentation, looks and products for the domestics as well as exports markets.
GTZ SDPS Design Development Centre
The German Technical collaboration is helping SDPS to give free design and technical service to the Garments manufacturers of Indore, Dewas and Dhar.
Saksham – “ Training through Established Institutions”
Is a project being run by SDPS to help upgrade skill of Hand Embroidery Artisans, and train them in Fashion Design / Readymade Garments. This project is supported by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi. This scheme comes under “Training Through Established Institutions” and we christened it “Saksham” - means self reliance.
ITF 2009 Fashion show
The SDPS students also got an opportunity to design the costume and apparels for India International Trade Fair 2009 Fashion show.
Shahari Sworajgar Yojana
Under Swarna Jayanti Shahari Sworajgar Yojana by Urban Development Authority of Indore, SDPS is undertaking courses for students from BPL families for Interior Decoration and Fashion Design.
Cone Craft Work Shop
The SDPS Women’s college also is undertaking the project of design development in “Cone Craft Workshop” under the patronage of Madhya Pradesh Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation. This short term project is aiming to benefit artisans who are engaged in cone craft and design prototypes are being developed.
Leather Craft Work Shop
The SDPS Women’s college also is undertaking the project of design development in “Leather Craft” under integrated cluster development programme under the auspices of Madhya Pradesh Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation. This is also a short term project with an aim to benefit artisans in this craft cluster and new design prototypes of utility items are being developed. |
